Want a Positive Start to the Week? Here's a note from Goethe.

Hello Weekenders! Guess what?

Tomorrow is Monday.

Hmmm...I could spend a few moments pondering how this unexpected event has occurred, like a proper Weekender, but that would be redundant as I do that most Sunday nights. Instead, I would like to leave you with a note from Goethe that not only might ease the realization this weekend is over, but might lead you to actually anticipate tomorrow. What is this madness I speak of? Tomorrow is still Monday, sure, however it's also an opportunity to fulfill this everyday checklist:

Well, when he puts it that way... Not too deplorable for a new day's plan, right?

Goethe, a German writer, was fond of reflections, including these others:

We do not have to visit a madhouse to find disordered minds; our planet is the mental institution of the universe.
If I love you, what business is it of yours?”
There is nothing more frightful than ignorance in action.

Yes, Goethe, yes.

Also not deplorable is Austin Kleon's illustration of this list, featured here. I'm a fan!

The last bullet is a particularly GOOD IDEA for everyone, everyday. (Thanks, fellow humans.) The others are the sweetness at the bottom of your morning cereal bowl.

One more bullet I'd add right before the last bullet is: "Write a few of your ideas down." I'm adding this to my list mainly because it's Writer's March (still marching!), and also because there's nothing like personal reflection to put your life into perspective--that's if you want to get meta and get your life. (Which you really should.)

In short, I love this list! And I hope you do too. Cheers to a positive start to the week, one in which you're getting the must do's done, but also one in which you're mindful of the sweetness and enjoying these good things.

Happy Monday!
